I didn’t know what to expect when I first interviewed Vanniall. Was I drawn to her beauty? Obviously, how could I not be? But to reduce the gorgeous porn star to her looks is to do yourself a big disservice, as there’s so much more to her than what meets the eye.
Recently, she purchased property in New England, so she can shoot horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films with her newly minted production company, Monstergirl Studio.
Vanniall wants to combine the macabre with the sexual, heightening your arousal and bringing your orgasms to new levels.
During our interview, she told me, “Most horror flicks are already chock-full of sexual imagery along with straight-up sex, at times either while or after something horrifically traumatic just happened. That’s what I want to capture, not the traumatic event and the immediate making out part, but the fear of the unknown, and two people bracing it together.”
By now, most of you know I’m a horror girly myself. Not only do I love watching horror porn, but my upcoming novel blurs the lines between speculative fiction and untraditional horror (all while being sexy and gory). So to meet another horrorphile?
Well, let’s just say that I’m elated to share this Q&A with Vanniall for the latest installment of my BOYSLUT zine series, Porn Stars, They’re Just Like Us Only Not!
Zachary Zane: Introduce yourself to the audience!
Vanniall: Hi! My name is Vanniall, and I’m a content creator focusing mainly on all things sexual: identity, wellness, and pleasure. I have been performing and making porn since 2019.
ZZ: How did you first get into porn?
V: I actually did a Chaturbate stream on my 18th birthday! I’d been trying to find myself sexy in my trans body for a while at that point and thought it’d be fun to see what reactions I’d get. Surprisingly, people were into it! I logged off of Chaturbate that day feeling sexy and 300 tokens richer, not yet realizing that 300 tokens did not mean $300, and I started to wonder what life would be like if I could somehow do this full-time.
Is your private life (outside of filming) as sexually active as your on-camera work, or do you keep those aspects more private?
It would probably be most sexy for my fans to hear I’m fucking all the time, but honestly, having sex all the time on camera makes me mostly want to cuddle up with my Steam Deck and play video games all night. But I do have some pretty satisfying sex outside of work—not having a camera and all the gear there makes it a totally different experience. But no, I’m not an insatiable gooner goblin, most of the time.
I don’t kiss and tell much about my experiences outside of work; it feels right to respect their privacy. But if you catch me on my YouTube or Chaturbate, you can get me talking!
What’s your favorite type of porn to shoot?
I’m really into movie productions at the moment and want to do more fantasy, horror, and sci-fi flicks that simply feature porn. There’s always been a few degrees of separation between horror and porn. Rightfully so, it’s usually a pretty gory situation, and viewers don’t want to be reminded of sex, right? Wrong!
Most horror flicks are already chock-full of sexual imagery along with straight-up sex, at times either while or after something horrifically traumatic just happened. That’s what I want to capture, not the traumatic event and the immediate making out part, but the fear of the unknown, and two people bracing it together.
I haven’t had much of a chance to explore this yet, either in front of the camera or behind it, but sites such as hentaied & PureTaboo bridge this gap in a beautiful and haunting way, though the plots leave a bit to be desired. I also want to feature more trans and brown bodies, which a lot of these sites don’t seem to do.
Casually, I really love doing content trades that are more natural and flow in a totally different way. When working with other creators on a small set, I like to take the opportunity to explore what they like, rather than make it feel strictly work.
I like it when people bring out their inner beast, but don’t require it. All bodies and people are different, so being understanding and patient has always led to some of my most beautiful scenes.
What are your top three biggest kinks and why? What about them turns you on?
It’s funny, I actually consider myself pretty vanilla, but that’s probably because all of my kinky industry friends always fill me in on what or who they’re doing.
When you’re queer and have sex with a lot of queers, stuff like fisting and mutual masturbation and peeing on someone’s butt is just normal stuff.
Probably my biggest turn-on is finding out someone has a weird, funny turn-on and then helping them with it.
When did you start exploring your kinks? How did you discover them?
I grew up pretty conservative, so I didn’t have a boyfriend or romantic interests until I was around 17 and learned the ancient art of “sneaking out.” But as for who I learned it from, truthfully, a lot of friends and a LOT of one-night stands. Boyfriends are great, but they’re usually not as experimental as a horny Brooklyn bartender. That’s where I developed my addiction to hairy bums and jockstraps. The jockstrap became a big one for me cause the twinks used to love wearing their slutty little jock straps with just about every outfit.
And when and how did you discover you were trans? What was that journey like for you?
Gah, it’s tough. I knew I was different since I was conscious, but didn’t realize how different until much later. I used to think I was just gay until I realized that I never wanted to enter a gendered male bathroom, while all my gay friends reveled in being shoulder to shoulder with men, I was horrified at the idea. From a young age, I’d hold off going to the bathroom, to the demise of my bladder, until I could get home or find a solo bathroom. Knowing not to ask my mother if I could use the women’s restroom, given her explosive reaction last time I asked.
It’s possible I always knew I was trans, though the vocabulary didn’t drop into my life until the Tumblr days. Figuring out the vocabulary was more of a journey than figuring myself out. My family is deeply religious and southern, so there’s still a divide there. But I live in an amazing place up north now, where I feel like I can be myself.
Anything else about yourself, your journey, or your career you’d like to add?
Recently, I bought a property in New England to set up as a production retreat. We’re calling it Monstergirl Studio. It’s taken almost two years to build it out and set it up, but we’re incredibly proud of it. We’re just a couple of hours north of NYC and west of Boston, so it hasn’t been that bad getting people out, and we’re five minutes from the fancy ski resorts and just an incredibly beautiful lake.
We think it will be really rewarding to host people for productions and also to let them stay here. We’ve got multiple streaming sets, huge collections of physical media for content creators to use, and an incredible amount of gear. There just aren’t many places to shoot spicy content that are homey, warm, and unique, so we created our own! We also have four acres of forest surrounded by protected wetlands. We wanted to ensure we had the privacy to make real movies. So, more horror movies will only be a matter of time!
What’s next for you?
Now that our new production retreat is set up, it’s time to shift from building that to shooting. I’ve launched my new YouTube channel, where I’ll be streaming every Wednesday, talking about life, nerding out, and even a little exercise! This project is dear to me because it’s an outlet for the creative side of me that people haven’t seen. I’ll also be bringing in some very special friends very soon. We just recorded the latest season of Chaturbate’s Sex Tales, the podcast I co-host. And this is gonna be an incredible year for partnered scenes and studio shoots! Very busy!
